Knowlege and Technology Transfer - Tsunami Hazard
Tsunami early warning and preparedness requires inter- and transdisciplinary efforts in assessing the hazard and estimating the risk. Addionally, since large uncertainties still exist in measuring, modeling, and evaluating the diverse steps in such assessments, rigorous uncertainty quantification and propagation is mandatory.
Members of the research area Numerical Methods in Geosciences are involved in multi-disciplinary projects to mitigate and reduce tsunami hazard and risk. Here are a few examples of research and transfer of knowledge and technology into society related to tsunami.
