IT Service

The IT group at the Mathematics department is responsible for the computers and their peripherals, starting with the purchase of the devices, followed by their installation and maintenance, up to the support of the computers in teaching and research.

We also support members of the department in creating and maintaining their websites. Furthermore, we provide suitable web applications for organising meetings and conferences. The IT group is your point of contact for all questions regarding the usage of information technology.

Our student assistants will help you on issues and questions concerning the computers and the printers in the computer room during the opening hours of the computer rooms. During term time: Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm.

Please note:

As our student assistants have lectures to attend to, we ask for your understanding that the office in room 146 is occupied only about 20 hours a week.

In order to use your identifier at the Mathematics department (e.g. login into the Linux computers in the computer rooms or for reading the department blog), you need to register with the Kerberos server at the Mathematics department at the following web page.

The Kerberos password is independent of the RRZ password. You can change your Kerberos password at the following web page.

The AFS is the network file system used at the Mathematics department. The home directories and homepage directories are located within the AFS. You can access the AFS from around the world. Thus, you can also use it on your private computer at home.
