On May 21 NumGeo group received important visitors from Indonesia and Germany. A delegation lead by Dr. Agie Wandala Putra, Director of Marine Meteorology of the Indonesian Administration for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG), and Thomas Helzel, founder of Helzel Messtechnik GmbH visited NumGeo to discuss innovations and possible cooperation for tsunami source assessment by HF-radar. PhD-candidate Rodrigo Cifuentes Lobos of NumGeo presented his latest results inverting radar detectable surface current data to retrieve ocean bottom deformation as tsunami sources.
