The first week of June, members of NumGeo group participated in the Workshop “From Scenarios to Consequences: Probabilistic Tsunami Risk Analysis (PTRA) with Geo-INQUIRE services”, hosted by GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam.
The workshop covered the entire tsunami risk workflow, including hazard, exposure and vulnerability assessments. PhD candidates Kemal Firdaus and Rodrigo Cifuentes Lobos had the opportunity to attend lectures and hands-on programming sessions and presented mini-projects titled “Comparative tsunami fatality modelling using gridded and building-level exposure data” and “The impact of return period choices: Is a conservative approach conservative?”, respectively. Through these projects, they were able to put into practice what they had learned during the week.
