Optimization

The research group Optimization considers the development, theory, implementation and application of efficient methods for (nonlinear) optimization methods.

Focus of the research are optimization problems with (partial) differential equations as constraints, the discrete approximation of such problems, infinite dimensional non-smooth optimization, and optimization under uncertainty.

Current application areas are the control of damage and fracture processes, fluid-structure interaction, and the efficient handling of stress-/derivative constraints.
