Prof. Vadym Aizinger, Universität Bayreuth, visited NumGeo group. Prof. Aizinger works on discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods for geoscientific fluid flow problems, and has recently successfully optimized his codes for high performance computing (HPC) architectures, such as CPU, GPU, and FPGA processing units. His inspiring presentation in the Lothar Collatz Colloquium will probably influence our ports to faster computing infrastructures.
