campus in Hamburg, in building
61. Unfortunately, the DESY campus is not indexed at google maps.
Please follow the information below and take a look at this pdf file to
find the venue (the file is equipped with some additional practical information).
Generalities about the public transportation system
The public transportation system comprises buses, subway trains (called "U-Bahn") and local distance trains (called "S-Bahn"), click here for more information. You can use buses and trains with the same ticket. Tickets are sold by the bus drivers and at vending machines in the entrance area of each train station. They typically accept coins and small bank notes but no credit cards. For a single trip in the central are of Hamburg you need a "Einzelkarte Großbereich Hamburg" (3) for € 2,85. From two trips on after 9 a.m. it is cheaper to buy a day-ticket "9-Uhr Tageskarte Großbereich Hamburg" (T3) for € 5,60, which is usually available under the sub-menu "HVV Tageskarten" (T).
From the airport to the Mercure Hotel
- Take train S1 from the airport (leaves there only in one direction)
to the station "Othmarschen" (two
stations behind "Altona").
- Take the bus no. 1 in direction "Schenefelder Holt" or "Sieversstücken"
(posted at the front of each single bus) to the station "Bahrenfeld Trabrennbahn"
(3 stations).
- Follow the "Luruper Chaussee" from the t-junction that you are looking at
to the left for 200 meters.
From the main station to the Mercure Hotel
- Take train S1 from the main station in direction "Blankenese" or "Wedel"
(platform 1 or 2)
to the station "Othmarschen" (two
stations behind "Altona").
- Take the bus no. 1 in direction "Schenefelder Holt" or "Sieversstücken"
(posted at the front of each single bus) to the station "Bahrenfeld Trabrennbahn"
(3 stations).
- Follow the "Luruper Chaussee" from the t-junction that you are looking at
to the left for 200 meters.
From the Mercure Hotel to the venue
- From the front entrance of the hotel turn left and walk down the "Luruper Chaussee".
- 100 meters after you have crossed the "Albert-Einstein-Ring", you can enter
the DESY campus to your left (watch out for the DESY-logo).
- If you follow this road, you will automatically come by buliding 61, we will put out signpost
from the road towards the building.
From anywhere else to the venue
- Find your way to the S-Bahn station "Othmarschen".
- Take the bus no. 1 in direction "Schenefelder Holt" or "Sieversstücken"
(posted at the front of each single bus) to the station "Bahrenfeld Trabrennbahn"
(3 stations).
- Follow the "Luruper Chaussee" from the t-junction that you are looking at
to the left.
- After approximately 300 meters, you see the entrance to the Desy campus on your left (watch out
for the DESY-logo).
- If you follow this road, you will automatically come by buliding 61, we will put out signpost
from the road towards the building.
The address of the restaurant is "St. Pauli Fischmarkt 14,
20359 Hamburg", look here. Note that there are two entrances to different parts of the restaurant, we will be in tha part called "Hafenblick".
- Take the bus line 1 in direction "Altona" from the bus station "Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld" to the S-Bahn station "Othmarschen".
- Take the train line S1 in Direction "Poppenbüttel" to the station "Reeperbahn".
- Walk down the street "Pepermölenbeck", following the curve to the left (the name of the street changes into "St. Pauli Fischmarkt"), as here.
- After 100 meters behind the curve you are at the restaurant.
