Seminar on ``Ergodic Theorems'' (STiNE Kurs 65-542)

In this seminar we follow the lectures of the current edition of the ``Internetseminar''
"Ergodic Theorems".
The seminar will be held as a "reading course" of lectures that are distributed via the internet. This means that the weekly lectures will be presented by course participants.
The topic of the seminar is ergodic theory which originates from statistical physics but has found its (modern) application in Fourier analysis and number theory. These later (mathematical) links as well as classical ergodic theorems in dynamical systems will be discussed in the course.
The course is suitable for Master students and final year Bachelor students with a background in functional analysis and measure theory. Interested PhD students might find it inspiring for their own research.
The concept of the Internetseminar exists already for more than 20 years. Each year the topic is connected to operator semigroups. At the end of the seminar, motivated students have the opportunity to participate in a project phase (Spring 2019) on related topics with an final workshop in June (not obligatory).
The course will be held alternating at the Uni Hamburg and the TU Hamburg-Harburg (this course is held jointy by the UH and the TU) on Mondays from 10:15-11:45.
