Model Order Reduction Summer School

The Model Order Reduction Summer School 2018 is an event which is organized by junior researchers for junior researchers. It is designed for master students in their final phase, PhD students and PostDocs in the field of model order reduction methods. The event aims at three main purposes:
  • Scientific exchange in the form of lectures, talks and discussions
  • Networking in an informal atmosphere
  • Training additional qualifications in a soft skill course and a programming session
Every participant is encouraged to give a talk and/or present a poster about their current research results. Moreover, there will be introductory courses about the different model reduction techniques and software courses. If you like to contribute to one of these topics, please indicate this within the registration. Possible topics for the introduction courses are: reduced basis technique, proper orthogonal decomposition, interpolation methods, balanced truncation, data-driven methods, etc. Possible topics for the software courses are: RBmatlab, RBniCS, dune-rb, MORLAB, etc.

  • All participants should arrive on Sunday, 23 September
  • The summer school will start on Monday, 24 September at 9 am
  • The summer school will end on Friday, 28 September at 2 pm

Venue and Accomodation:

The summer school will take place in room 740 in the Department of Mathematics, Bundesstraße 55 (Geomatikum), of the University of Hamburg. Here is a map. The closest U-Bahn station is "Schlump" on the red line U2 and the yellow line U3. The train station "Sternschanze" (train lines S11, S21 and S31) is also in walking distance. Here is the website for public transport in Hamburg.
The hotel IBIS Budget Hamburg City, Amsinckstraße 1, is located close to the Hamburg main train station. Please do not contact the accomodation. If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to the organizers.

Conference Fee:

Includes accomodation costs (in a shared double room), breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, both conference dinners.
The workshop fee is 360 Euro per person. It is also possible to get further financial support. If you want to apply for support, please indicate this in your registration.
