Ingo Runkel
PhD studentship
Applications are invited for a PhD studentship funded by
the
SFB 676
"Particles, strings and the early universe",
starting 1 Jan 2014 (or shortly thereafter).
The topic of the project is
"Integrability
in two-dimensional conformal field theory", and it
is lead by Volker Schomerus, Jörg Teschner and myself.
Candidates should have an interest in mathematical physics, for example
in mathematical questions relating to conformal or topological field
theory, integrable systems or string theory.
Hamburg offers an excellent research environment in
mathematical physics, there are many joint
activities of the Mathematics Department, the Theoretical Physics group
and the DESY theory group,
see the web pages of the
Centre for Mathematical Physics.
In addition, the University offers a Masters programme "Mathematical Physics"
with interesting lectures and seminars.
The conditions of employment and the application procedure are described in
the job advertisement
[PDF].
If you are interested, please send your application
(short CV, university degree, letters of reference,
and a PDF file of your Bachelor or Masters thesis (if available))
per email and post to
me
no later than 9 Dec 2013.
Please contact me in case you have further questions.
