Simulation of thermal networks

Based on a graph-theoretical approach the balance equations at the knots of the thermal network are formulated using Kirchhoff's law. The resulting system of equations describing the volumetric streams in the network is nonlinear and can be solved by suitable numerical methods. Knowing the distribution of the volumetric streams the thermal balances can be calculated.
With the proposed method steady as well as dynamical states may be simulated and analyzed. It therefore provides a suitable tool both, in operating and planing thermal networks and in investigating control and optimizing control strategies in thermal networks.
