A Nichols algebra over a group is a natural concept arrising both in the stucture theory of Hopf algebras e.g. Uq(sl2), and as acted-on quantum linear spaces (Manin). It will be introduced by it's universal property and with a scratch of it's structure analysis via root sytems and Dynkin diagrams (Schneider, Heckenberger). We will then present a construction of new finite-dimensional examples over nilpotent groups using symmetries/foldings of Dynkin diagrams.
