Travel Information.

From Brussels Airport to the Central Railway Station of Brussels (Brussel-Centraal/ Bruxelles Central)

The connection between Brussels Airport and the centre of Brussels (Central Railway Station of Brussels) is very comfortable. You can board the train in the airport at level -1. Elevators to level -1 are one the right hand side when leaving the arrival area. There are 4 trains per hour (leaving at 04, 26, 36 and 52 after the hour, respectively). A ticket costs € 2,90.

To the Venue of the Conference

The conference will take place in the Rubensauditorium of the palace of the Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van België voor Wetenschappen en Kunsten (Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts). The address is Hertogsstraat 1, B-1000 Brussels (+32-2-550 23 23) and it is right next to the Royal Palace. From the Central Railway Station of Brussels, this is a ten minutes walk through Park Van Brussel/Parc de Bruxelles.

Alternatively, take the metro. The metro station Troon/Trône (line 2) is 200m from the Academy. From Central Station (Brussel-Centraal/Bruxelles Central) take Line 1 to Arts-Loi/Kunst-Wet and there line 2. Please follow the sign at the entrance of the Palace of the Academy.

Accommodation

The bad news first: Brussels is not cheap! Hotels are quite expensive, particularly in the city centre.

The organizers booked accommodation for the invited speakers and the members of the PhiMSAMP network who requested this. They will be staying at Hotel Alma at Spoormakersstraat in the city centre. If there are rooms left, participants are free to contact Hotel Alma. A room should be about € 130 a night. Please find a zoomable google map with walking directions from Aris to the conference venue here.

All participants except for the invited speakers and PhiMSAMP members are kindly requested to book their accommodation independently, for instance via http://www.booking.com. The hits on booking.com are sorted by distance from the Royal Palace (which is right next to the conference location). Note that the price on booking.com is the rate for three nights (Brussels is not that expensive!). Still, the cheapest option is about € 80 a night. If this is too much for you, you could try hostels in Brussels, for instance via the webpage hostels.com where the cheapest option is € 16 a night in a dorm bed.
