costs for researchers going from India to Europe and from Europe to India.
- Training visits. IERTNiL covers a stipend for Indian students
and junior researchers to stay for an extended period of at least one
month at one of the European institutions.
- Training courses. IERTNiL covers travel and accommodation
costs for researchers from Europe/India to teach an intensive course in
India/Europe.
- Workshops. IERTNiL supports events in India or Europe
co-organized by an Indian and a European researcher.
Deadlines and funding guidelines.
IERTNiL had three deadlines per year: 1 April, 1 August and 1
December. The last regular deadline was 1 December 2016. After the official end of the network,
the Steering Committee decided to have a final deadline to use funds that have been allocated but not
used. The final deadline is 15 April 2017.
Decisions for funding are made by the Steering Committee (SC).
Highest priority is given to proposals that involve one or more of the
three coordinating institutions. After that, priority is given to
proposals that involve network members on both the Indian and the
European side. After that, priority is given to proposals that involve a
network member on one of the two sides. Proposals with no network
members involved have lowest priority.
The SC selects proposals on the basis of scientific excellence of the
proposal and the applicant's scientific excellence. Supporting junior
researchers and researchers who have no access to other research funding
is a priority. Proposals that promise a long-term collaboration between
India and Europe are considered particularly valuable.
